Configuring your mail client on your Mac

Please see How do I set-up my email? for more details on how to create new email addresses and/or mailboxes and where to find your mailbox details.

Once you have your mailbox details please open MacMail. If you have no accounts setup then you'll be taken directly to account setup. Otherwise go to Mail -> Add Account:


Choose Add Other Mail Account and click Continue:


Enter Your Full Name, Your Full Email address and your password then click Create (Please see How do I set-up my email? if you do not know how to access your password):



Next choose whether you'd like to use POP or IMAP. In this example we'll use POP but you can use either.
Then enter pop.powamail.com as the Mail Server.
Enter your full email address as the User Name.
Enter your password again in the Password field.
Then click Next



Next enter your outgoing server information...
Enter smtp.powamail.com as the SMTP Server.
Enter your full email address as the User Name.
Enter your password again in the Password field.
Then click Create.

NOTE: You may be shown a message to say that Additional account information is required.


If this happens then click Next and enter the following outgoing server config information (making sure you enter your own email address in the User Name field):
 


Next you should see all of your emails start to appear in your inbox.

To test your setup please go to send an email to yourself to test that it's working okay.
If you receive your test email in your inbox then congratulations, it's all working!

NOTE: If you see the following error then you need to further configure your outgoing server:



If you do see the above error then click on Edit SMTP Server and enter the following outgoing server config information (making sure you enter your own email address in the User Name field):


Please tick the Automatically detect... and the Use SSL checkboxes.
Please untick the Allow insecure authentication checkbox.
Set the Port to be 587 and the Authentication mode to be Password.
Make sure that you you enter your own email address in the User Name field and your own password in the Password field.
Then click OK.

You should then return to the error below:


This time just click Try with Selected Server to try your new settings.
