How-To: How to verify your site using Webmaster Verification services?

If you are using third party services like Google Webmaster Tools, Bing Webmaster Center and Yahoo Site Explore you will need to add your site address to your appropriate third party account and then verify it.

To verify your site please enter the corresponding verifcation tag(s) supplied by the third party to the Manage Website > Edit Webmaster Verification dialog window

Example of the Google Webmaster Tools integration

1. Login into your Google Webmaster Tools account, add your site by clicking on the Add Site button.

2. Select the Meta tag verification method and copy the meta tag provided.

3. Login into the Swifty platform Dashboard and go to the Edit Webmaster Verification dialog window.

4. Paste the meta tag and click Done.

5. Publish the site for the meta tag to be added to the site pages.

6. Go back to your Google Webmaster Tools account and click on the 'Verify button' to verify your site.

Note: To add more meta tags, place the cursor in the end of the first/previous meta tag, press 'Enter' on your keyboard and paste another meta tag.

Alternatively,

if you have already added Google Analytics to your Swifty platform account (see How to add Google Analytics to my Swifty Dashboard account? for more details), you can verify your site's ownership without adding any meta tags:

1. Login into your Google Webmaster Tools account, add your site by clicking on the Add Site button.

2. Select the 'Link to your Google Analytics account' verification method and click Verify

Important note for developers and Swifty platform account owners who use bespoke templates:

This method will work for templates that have the generic template version id=4 or greater. Please see Template Version Control for more information on the generic template version.
