FAQ: How do I set-up my email?

To configure the delivery of Email

Go to Dashboard > Manage Settings > Manage Email Addresses.

On the left is a list of the domain names associated with your online site, on the right are the email addresses that exist for that domain name.

By default, there are 2 email addresses associated with the site subdomain:sales@domain.site.powa.com and customer-service@domain.site.powa.com and 1 mailbox associated with your site account: sales@domain.site.powa.com .

The sales@domain.site.powa.com  email address is of the Mailbox type. This means that all emails sent to this email address will be delivered directly to the mailbox associated with this email address.

The customer-service@domain.site.powa.com  email address is of the Mail Forwarding type. This means that all emails sent to this email address will be forwarded to the mailbox associated with the email address specified in the 'Forward to Email Address(es)' field. 

Note: the shops created before 23rd of September have 2 domains associated: *.site.powa.com and*.shop.venda.com. Default email addresses are sales@*.shop.venda.com and customer-service@*.shop.venda.com, mailbox is sales@*.shop.venda.com.

To Add an Email Address (of the Mail Forwarding type)

  1. Select the required shop domain from the left (e.g. mydomain.com) and click the 'Add Email Address' button
  2. Enter the address e.g. 'info' to create the email address info@mydomain.com and specify the email address to which all emails should be forwarded
  3. Click 'Done' to finish

Note: if mail for the selected domain name (e.g. mydomain.com)  is not managed by Powa, then the new email address should be created by the company who manages your mail.

 

To Edit an Email Address (of the Mail Forwarding type)

1. Select the required email address and click the 'Edit Email Address' button
2. Make required changes and click 'Done' to finish

 

To Add a New Mailbox (Email Address to be delivered to a Mailbox type)

This functionality will work only for the shop domain names for which emails are managed by Powa.

  1. Select the required shop domain from the left (e.g. mydomain.com) and click the 'Add Email Address' button
  2. Enter the address e.g. 'enquiry' to create the email address enquiry@mydomain.com
  3. Click 'Done' to finish

 4. In 5 minutes a new mailbox will be created and you'll receive the Mailbox Access Details by email. This email will be sent to the email address associated with the site account.

Note 1: Maximum number of Mailboxes per shop is 10. The Mailbox limit is 100 MB.

Note 2: If the maximum number of mailboxes has been created, you can continue to create Email Addresses using the Mail Forward delivery method.

 
Mailbox Username and Password

You can view the mailbox details by selecting the corresponding email address and clicking on the View Mailbox Details button. 

PLEASE NOTE: At the time of taking these screenshots there was a display issue in the control panel. The correct setting to use for Incoming Email Server is actually mail.greenlightpower.net and likewise the correct setting to use for Outgoing Email Server is also mail.greenlightpower.net

If you see "something.powamail.com" in your settings please ignore these and use "mail.greenlightpower.net" instead.

Please note, that mailbox password is encrypted here. If you've lost or forgotten the password, click on the Generate New Password button.

Once a new password has been generated, don't forget to change your mail client's settings accordingly.

 

 

Configuring a IMAP/POP3 mailbox

Now, to pick up mail from the mailbox you should configure your MS Outlook or an equivalent email client* as follows:

1. Open Microsoft Outlook

2. From the navigation select 'Tools', then 'Account Settings'

3. In the E-mail Accounts window select ‘Add a new e-mail account’ and click ‘Next>’

 

 


4. Select ‘IMAP’and click 'Next >'

 


5. Enter your name or the name you wish to appear in the field which indicates who the mail has been sent from, the email address e.g. enquiry@mydomain.com .

 

The incoming mailserver is:

mail.greenlightpower.net

 

For the outgoing mail server, enter the same:

mail.greenlightpower.net

 

In the field entitled 'User Name', please enter your mailbox username e.g. enquiry@mydomain.com . Enter the password for this mailbox:

 


6. Click ‘More Settings’ and select ‘Outgoing server’ tab. In this window, make sure the following settings are applied
- the check box called 'My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication' should be ticked
- the option 'Log on using' is selected, and the same Username and Password supplied for your mailbox are entered

 

After that select the ‘Advanced’ tab. Select the authentication method. Different versions of outlook ask different questions so:

  • If you see any ‘This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)’ check boxes for Incoming and/or Outgoing servers then make sure they are ticked.
  • If you see any drop downs asking 'Use the following type of encrypted connection'  set 995(if POP) or 993(if IMAP) SSL for Incoming Server and 587 TLS for the Outgoing server.

The Outgoing Server Port number should be 587.

For the Incoming Server Port number, enter 995 if your account is set up to connect to POP server, and 993 if your account is set up to connect to IMAP server.



 


7. Now click 'OK' to close the window and save the settings

 

8. Click ‘Next>’ and then ‘Finish’
