FAQ: How can I organise different shipping destinations for specific products?
Business case: Some products cannot be delivered worldwide/to specific countries
In this example:
Product Set A - products that can be delivered to the UK only.
Product Set B - products that can be delivered worldwide.
We recommend the following solution for this case:
1. For all products from Product Set B specify a zero weight value.
2. For all products from Product Set A specify a non-zero weight value, e.g. 0.002 kg.
3. Next you will need to create 2 shipping methods of the Order Weight type so that these shipping methods will be available to the products with a specific weight only.
A shipping method available to all products (Sets A and B) should have the following ranges and applicable regions:
0.000 - 0.001, cost value - the cost which will be applied to the products from Set B
0.002 - 5.000 (a significantly greater weight value, just in case a big number of products from Set A are added to the cart), cost value - the cost which will be applied to the products from Set A
Applicable regions: UK
A shipping method available to Set B should have the following ranges and applicable regions:
0.000 - 0.001
Applicable regions: Rest of the World
If a product from Set A is added to the cart, this shipping method will be N/A, i.e. not available for selection.
If products from both Set A and Set B are added to the cart, then the second shipping method (for international purchases) will be not available for selection. For this shipping method to work as expected only products from set B should be purchased at a time. So you may need to add some explanatory text to the shopping cart notifying your customers about this restriction.
